Medicaid Services Investment and Accountability Act of 2019

This bill has a series of provisions to reform medicaid. Some of these provisions include additional funding for state medicaid programs. This bill was enacted in 2019. Click the name of the bill to find out more.  ​

Action for Dental Health Act

This bill promotes oral health through a massive funding package. Some funding through this bill went to the CDC. This bill was enacted in 2018. In addition, this bill secured funding to provide dental care in underprivileged communities across America. Click the name of the bill to find out more information.

Patient Right to Know Drug Prices Act

This bill insured that consumers would not be deceived by pharmacies. Pharmacies are now required to provide all costs, out-of-pocket or insured, to the consumer. This bill was enacted in 2018. 

Veterans Providing Healthcare Transition Improvement Act

This bill expanded the amount of medical leave certain federal employees, who are veterans, can take.  It also increased some of the benefits they receive. This bill was enacted in 2018.

Landmark Legislation

To be counted as a piece of landmark legislation, a bill/law must significantly impact the lives of many, or remarkably change an existing law. There are several landmark healthcare initiates and laws. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, frequently known as Obamacare, definitely fits in this category. 

Medicaid was largely expanded, and several insurance policies were changed.  More than 20 million people gained access to healthcare coverage due to this law. This bill has been subject to numerous controversies, and there have been several attempts to repeal it altogether.
